The event
Oxfam Novib Trailwalker is the world´s greatest team challenge. Teams of 4 walk (or run) 100 kilometers in under 30 hours. Besides the physical challenge each team is obliged to raise 3000 euro’s with the ultimate goal of each team helping to give 120 children education, in countries like Mali. Each team has it’s own support team which offers the team all the necessary support during the 100 kilometers, such as food and beverages, warm clothing and most importantly encouragement and motivation when you question if you can walk anymore.
History and International Events
The event began in 1981 as a military exercise for the elite Queen´s Gurkha Signals Regiment in Hong Kong, and has since grown into one of the world´s leading sporting challenges.
Oxfam Novib Trailwalker is part of an international series also held in Hong Kong, the UK, Japan, New Zealand, Australia and Belgium. The event has raised more than $70 million internationally with thousands of people competing each year.
Oxfam Novib Trailwalker
The first Oxfam Novib Trailwalker will take place in the Netherlands on 20 and 21 June 2009. The location of the Trailwalker is the well known nature reserve de Veluwe, with start en finish in Ede.

Team sponsoring
Each Oxfam Novib Trailwalker team raises a minimum of € 3000. The funds are raised through family, friends, companies and several fundraising initiatives and activities. On average it costs 25 euro’s to send a child to school for a year. For 3.000 euro’s 120 children can receive education for a year. This gives them a chance at a better future. Oxfam Novib’s goals is to offer 18.000 children education with the total profit of all the Trailwalker teams.
As a team sponsor you can support a team. To support a team go to www.oxfamnovib.nl/trailwalker and click on the button ‘steun een team’.
The sponsor form can be used to sponsor a team. Select your team (wie sponsor je?) and choose whether you are sponsoring as a company (bedrijf). A pop-up screen will appear in which you can fill in your details. After successfully completing the form (and push the button verzenden) the pop-up window will close automatically. After completion you will receive an email containing confirmation of your sponsor amount.
Important: Sponsoring is per kilometer.Oxfam Novib Trailwalker is 100 kilometer! The sponsored amount will be charged to your bank account around the 7th of the next month. It is also possible to sponsor a fixed amount.
